Mexico City GP bags and parking

What fits through the airport-style check at the gate, what gets turned away, and why the promoter points you to the Metro instead of a parking lot.

Quick answer

Backpacks up to 10 × 15 × 30 cm (clear preferred) and small bags up to 11 × 16 cm are allowed; seat pads, chairs, outside food and drink, aerosols and vapes are not. The promoter lists Metro Line 9, Metrobús, Ticket2Ride and ride apps, not public parking.1,2

The security check

Expect an airport-style search: you empty your pockets and bags, staff look at every item, there is a quick pat-down, and you may be asked to take off your shoes. The promoter reserves the right to refuse entry.1

Bag sizes

  • Bags or backpacks up to 10 × 15 × 30 cm, preferably clear plastic, vinyl or PVC.1
  • Small handbags, with or without a strap, up to 11 × 16 cm; bum bags (cangureras) up to 11 × 16 cm.1
  • Medium clear storage bags such as zip-lock bags.1
  • Not allowed: backpacks larger than 10 × 15 × 30 cm and camping backpacks.1

Allowed, with limits

  • Sunscreen and hand gel in containers up to 100 ml; no aerosols.1
  • Rain boots, raincoats, and small umbrellas with no point. The promoter suggests a raincoat so you do not block anyone's view.1
  • Cameras of any kind with a lens up to 300 mm (two lenses at most for a professional camera). Tripods, monopods, selfie sticks and GoPro poles are banned.1
  • Flags or banners about the event up to 1 metre long, on a PVC pole only.1
  • Phone power banks, binoculars without a laser, hats, sunglasses, earplugs, jackets, beach towels, prescription medicine, baby food and small (umbrella-type) strollers.1

Turned away at the gate

  • Outside food and drink, glass bottles and cans, and coolers.1
  • Seat backs and seat pads, chairs and blankets.1
  • Cigarettes, e-cigarettes and vapes, and lighters.1
  • Aerosols, spare batteries other than phone power banks, lasers and glow sticks, drones, and professional video or audio gear.1
  • Chains and chain wallets, belts with studs or large buckles, stuffed toys, balls and frisbees, musical instruments, pets, bikes and skateboards.1

Cushions are banned. Fan guides suggest bringing something soft for the concrete steps, but the promoter's security list bans seat backs and seat pads (item 27) and chairs (item 28). A folded jacket is allowed (item 16 of the allowed list).1,3

Parking

The promoter's getting-there page for 2026 lists the Metro, Metrobús, the free perimeter bus, Ticket2Ride shuttles and ride apps. It does not list public parking at the circuit, and it warns that road closures around the Autódromo push up ride-app prices and waits.2

Its cheapest suggestion is Metro Line 9 to Velódromo, Ciudad Deportiva or Puebla, a few metres from the gates, at MXN 5 a ride. Ticket2Ride runs round trips from Condesa, Santa Fe, Interlomas, Galerías Coapa, Perisur, Plaza Lindavista and Parque de los Venados for MXN 350 per person per day.2

Lost something?

Every gate has a help desk that collects lost property; items are handed back after you register what you lost.1
